Broodmares

Deer Creek Sport Horses has a small herd of select broodmares. As a small breeder, much thought goes into "matchmaking" our mares with quality stallions to produce the ideal sport horse.

American Holsteiner Association Inspection Tour 2005

This is Done With Style, a 1986 Jockey Club registered TB mare. She is by Rixdal, out of Recognizance. Her pedigree includes some of the great Thoroughbreds of racing's glory days: Nearco, Hyperion, Count Fleet, Sir Galahad and Nasrullah. "Olivia" stands 16.1 hands and is a lovely dappled bay with a large star and stripe. She was accepted in the Holsteiner Main Mare Studbook at the age of 20, a feat difficult for a TB mare of any age. She is sensible and intelligent, conformationally correct, an incredible athlete and exceptionally brave.

Olivia was a successful jumper through the 4'6" ranks and dabbled in the 3'6" hunters and enjoyed a few pair paces at Preliminary level heights. She was either Ch. or RSV. every show for her entire 15 year career. Incredibly, she retired sound. Her first foal, Deer Creek's First Edition, won the USDF/USEF Sport Horse Breeding Class as a yealing, in Colorado. He was a full TB and beat out a large field of warmblood foals!  Sadly, her 2007 foal was her last and she will now enjoy her retirement as the MVE (Most Valuable Equine) at Deer Creek. Her legacy lives on in her daughter, Ulula (also owned by Deer Creek) and for the first time in 2009 a third generation. We love her dearly and owe her a world of gratitude as she has given us every ounce of herself during her long, happy life.

Colorado 2001

This is Colibria Z, a 1996 imported Zangersheide mare. She is by the Holsteiner stallion Cevin, now standing at Studbook Zangersheide, out of the Dutch mare Colibria. This dam line has been family owned since World War II and includes the famous TB Pericles. Her sire line includes Calando I and Cor de la Bryere, as well as the famous dam line of U-Capitola by Folia.

"Bria" was imported in 2001 as a performance prospect. She competed successfully as a jumper, then as an eventer. Because of her amazing performance and supurb pedigree, we decided to give her a chance at proving herself as a broodmare. Her foals are consistantly gorgeous, correct, and athletic. Bria produces foals with brains, looks and jumping ability. Offered for sale at a reduced price and open for 2009. $$

When In Rhome Farm, Summer 2007

This is Lulu, aka Ulula. She is a 2004 registered/branded Holsteiner by Ariadus (now ranked #3 on the USEF Jumper Sire List) out of our AHHA main mare book TB, Done With Style. She has lovely, ground covering gaits and a wonderful build. Fabulous effort and form when free-jumped. Very scopey and careful. She is bred to jump and will excel in any discipline. She is sweet and sensible, yet has a bold personality and a never-quit work ethic. Loves to get in the water! Great gallop. Soft and light in the bridle. Easy lead change. We liked her so much we decided to breed her for a foal to keep. We are giving her a year to grow and be a mom her before selling her.  Available Fall of 2009 open or now with a guaranteed '09 buckskin foal. $$

The Holsteiner stallion Ariadus, standing at Fox Fire Farm in the US. This and many other fine stallions can be seen at www.foxfirefarm.us.
